ENTRIES FOR 2010-11 ARE OPEN FROM 1ST SEPTEMBER 2010
CLOSING DATE: 31ST JANUARY 2011
COMPETITION DAY: 8TH MARCH 2011
There will be 2 Best Newcomer Awards (up to 3 years in a BI role) awarded in 2010-11:
- Best Industry Newcomer - sponsored by Ashfield In2Focus
- Best Agency Newcomer - sponsored by KDM Worldwide (Kate Marlar)
Candidates, who must have a total of no more than 3 years business intelligence experience (as of 31st December 2010) will take part in a practical business intelligence simulation exercise/case study. This one-day competition will allow newcomers to demonstrate their ability in front of a specially selected panel.
The event will be held on Tuesday 8th March 2011 at the offices of medeConnect Healthcare Insight near Abingdon, Oxon. We would like to thank medeConnect for hosting this event.
Important points to note:
- The competition is designed to allow entrants to demonstrate their ability to think on their feet and tackle a range of challenges.
- The day will comprise a series of tasks which are designed to be sufficiently broad for all candidates to undertake - whether they work in market research, sales analytics, business information or other related disciplines.
- It will assess things like planning & organisation and communication skills NOT knowledge of a particular type of research or analytical process.
- This is a unique opportunity for industry and agency participants to learn from the judges as well as demonstrate their own abilities.
- It will be fun!
Click here to download an entry form, which should be sent by post or email, as indicated on the form, to reach us by 31st January 2011. Applicants must obtain their line manager's approval.
In order to give all our member organisations a chance to take part, we ask that no more than two people are put forward from each company.
Here's what last year's winners had to say:
“I liked the way it was designed so most of the tasks were focused around the launch of a hypothetical product as it gave continuity and linked together well – I got really into the scenario. The judges were really nice and very good at putting us at ease. I particularly enjoyed the tasks that made me think in a different perspective from my usual role and it was a useful exercise for me to do at this stage in my career to develop my skills and discover where my strengths and weaknesses are. I’ll definitely be recommending that colleagues take part next year!”
Rachel Howard, Synovate Healthcare (Winner, Best Agency Newcomer 2009-10)
“I thought the day was a very comprehensive "assessment centre" which covered multiple disciplines, well structured and organised and very enjoyable yet challenging. A great opportunity to network with industry and agency colleagues alike”
Jack Harris, MSD (Winner, Best Industry Newcomer 2009-10)
