| Q I spent a year in consumer market research before moving into pharma, and have been in my current pharma BI role for 2.5 years. Am I still eligible? |
|
A No. Someone in this situation is not eligible as they have 3.5 years BI experience. The 3-year rule applies to total time in business intelligence, whether or not this is in pharma. Entrants must have no more than 3 years' total BI experience in any type of organisation. |

| Q I spent a year in business intelligence, then moved into a field sales role for a 2-year secondment and have now been back in BI for the last year. Am I eligible? |
| A Yes. As long as someone has no more than 3 years TOTAL BI experience (at 31st December) they can apply. It does not matter if their BI experience has been split up and therefore extends over a longer period. |

| Q Do I have to be in a UK business intelligence role? |
| A Your role should impact on UK business. If there is a global element to the role this is OK, as long as it involves significant UK work. |

| Q I am about to move into a new role outside business intelligence. Can I still apply? |
| A You must still be working in a business intelligence role on the day of the competition in March. |

| Q What are the selection criteria that may be applied if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity of the Best Newcomer competition day? |
| A The BOBI Steering Committee would look to ensure that those applicants who have close to 3 years' experience are able to take part as they will not have another chance to win this award. Applicants with less experience - who would still be eligible to take part next year - might be asked to step down and apply again next time. |

| A Sorry, no. You must be available on that date. |

| Q I work in sales analytics. Will the exercises be strongly market research focused such that I won't be able to make a meaningful contribution? |
| No. The exercises will be planned so that applicants in all types of BI roles will be able to take part. They will not rely on specific knowledge or experience, as we recognise that people's job roles vary greatly. |
