BHBIA Legal and Ethical Guidelines for Healthcare Market Research                          (including Adverse Event Reporting)

Training Workshop
Thursday 5th March AND Thursday 19th November 2009

We are currently looking into the possibility of holding the 5th March workshop at a venue in the north of England, to provide easier access for our members who are not based close to London. Details will be available soon.

The 19th November workshop will be at the ABPI Offices, 12 Whitehall, London

As Pharmaceutical companies gear up their emphasis on compliance across all areas of marketing activity, adherence to the Legal and Ethical Framework for Healthcare Market Research (also known as the 'BHBIA Guidelines') has never been more important.

This one-day workshop has been completely revised and updated to reflect the content of the new 2008 Guidelines and other recent changes in the legal and ethical environment. The workshop will be highly interactive, giving you the in-depth understanding that comes from working through case-studies and discussing real-life issues with colleagues from across the industry.

Outline of timings:

9.00am      Registration and Coffee

9.30am      Start of Programme

4.30pm      Summary and Close

Topics:

The day will cover key topics such as:

  • Respondent replies/Consent and responsibilities
  • Responsibilities of the Agency and Client

  • Recruitment, Incentives and Recompense (including guidance on Clause 20 of the new ABPI Code)
  • Patient Market Research
  • Use of Materials, Medical sign-off and ABPI Guidance
  • Adverse Event Reporting
  • Data storage and Databases

The course programme will be updated on any ongoing basis to ensure that the day focuses on the most important issues and incorporates the most up to date guidance on key topics, particularly the new ABPI Code.

Who should attend?

The workshop is suitable for all healthcare business intelligence professionals who would like to refresh their knowledge and understand the new areas covered in the revised Legal and Ethical Framework.

Please note:

  • The "Introduction to Pharmaceutical Business Intelligence and Market Research" course in November includes an overview of the Guidelines, but this workshop will go into much more detail and is suitable for all levels
  • This workshop has been completely revised and goes into much more depth than the half day Guidelines/AER workshop that was run in November 2007, as well as incorporating ABPI Code changes that have come into place this year (Clause 20).
