Designing Questionnaires and Discussion Guides for Qualitative and Quantitative Market Research 11th February 2010
ABPI Offices, 12 Whitehall, London
Both client side and agency market research professionals will benefit from attending this highly practical workshop; in particular it will be of benefit to:
-
Industry delegates who are involved in commissioning market research and would like to have a greater understanding of the pros and cons of different approaches, be confident to constructively critique documents produced by their agencies and potentially be able to conduct small projects in-house
-
Agency delegates who are relatively new to questionnaire/guide design, or whose experience has been focussed on a particular type of survey and who would like to gain a broader understanding of other scenarios
Delegates will take away from the workshop:
-
An understanding of the possibilities, challenges and benefits of quantitative (questionnaire based) research for the whole range of interview methodologies, from on-line to telephone to face to face
-
Understanding the differing needs for qualitative research, how to design discussion guides, also for the range of methodologies, groups, one to one depth interviews and on-line techniques such as bulletin boards
-
An understanding of the reasons for choosing quantitative vs. qualitative approaches, and the value and limitations of hybrid approaches e.g. qualitative estimates of typical numbers and semi-structured interviewing
The workshop will use a hypothetical case history as the basis for practical exercises throughout the day, allowing delegates to gain hands on experience of designing and piloting discussion guides and questionnaires.
