The Analytics Connect Group is the BHBIA’s special interest group which focuses on issues pertinent to the analytics sector of our membership, including SFE, CRM and related areas.

Analytics play an important role in healthcare business insight generation.  The purpose of the Analytics Connect Group is to look at how analytics is evolving in our industry and to input into how the BHBIA can further support this sector of our membership.

Becoming the 2023 BHBIA Analyst Team of the Year

For this meeting we are delighted to welcome guest speakers Jamie Doggett, Associate Director of Insight and Mary Kangley, Health Insights Consultant from CREATION.co, both members of the BHBIA 2023 Analyst Team of the Year.

The Analyst Team of the Year BOBI is a challenge award.  These awards are designed for entrants to be able to demonstrate the application of their skills to a realistic, case-study based, brief put together by the BHBIA.  The challenge categories allow the members to enter the awards even if they don’t have a project that they can share in a public forum.

The 2023 Analyst Team of the Year challenge focussed on data sets taken from NHS workforce statistics.  Entrants were tasked with turning the complex datasets into an interactive, engaging report that told the story held within them.

This year’s winning entry came from the team at CREATION.co and at this meeting Jamie and Mary will take us through the process from an entrant’s perspective including

• Their initial thoughts upon receiving the data set
• The process the team went through to decide on how to analyse the data
• How the final submission was put together

They will also share some of the final outputs from the submission, demonstrating what the judges saw that led them to make it the winning entry.

 “This report convincingly laid out the key insights and recommendations, which were supported well by analysis, with builds and clearly-labelled charts helping to tell the story.  We were pleased to see the use of additional data including Twitter and GP working hours, and the use of NHS colours was a nice touch.”
