Guidelines for the use of Secondary Data - new topics available

Two new topics launched: "Big Data and Data Protection" and "Working with a new supplier of secondary data"

The folllowing two new topics are now available:

  • Big Data and Data Protection - With the additional data protection constraints of GDPR (coming into force in May 2018), this article summarises key points raised in a recent 113-page document published by the ICO.
  • Working with a new supplier of secondary data - A checklist of things to consider and clarify alongside your own specific requirements, prior to starting a project.  

In total there are now 14 guides in the series.

In addition to the 2 new guides, 2 others have been updated:

  • Using HES Data from NHS Digital - updated to reflect the change from HSCIC to "NHS Digital" and DAAG to "IGARD".
  • Data Protection - How does the law apply to secondary data? - Expansion of the 8th principle to include backups and fail-over sites along with cloud hosting.
