Having a set of brilliant and game changing insights is one thing...
...but confidently delivering these through a well-crafted story, tailored to inspire and mobilise the specific audience you’re delivering them to, can be quite another.

Purpose

Our objective is to establish Business Insights professionals not just providers of insights, but as trusted business partners. Alongside the nuts and bolts of conducting projects or analysis, a host of soft skills can be the levers that elevate your delivery from why something is happening, to having a say in the next stage ‘so what’. Learn how to influence your key stakeholders so that you can go beyond the results and explain the ‘why’ as well as the ‘what’.

Sessions are designed to help you gain the confidence to challenge requests, learn to say ‘no’ appropriately, sharpen your insights communications through effective structuring, and understand and identify the working styles of yourself and your stakeholders. The day is a mixture of classroom-based learning and presentations, mixed with practical sessions to try out some of the new skills in a safe environment before taking them back to the office.

This one-day workshop acts as an introduction to the new Business Skills series run by the BHBIA. It can either be followed up by attending specific courses that focus on a skill in more depth, or used as a rounded overview that will give some practical tools to take away and use next day as part of your personal development plans.

This workshop forms part of the BHBIA's new Business Skills series. The series aims to equip Business Insights professionals with the tools and capability to influence those over whom they may have no authority, and be seen as a trusted and valued business partner. There is no set time by which to complete the series - it is collated so that you can pick and chose which areas may support your personal development needs over time.

Workshops in the series that explore key skills in more depth include:

What can you expect?

Attending this one-day workshop will provide you with tangible tips and tools to take back to your working practice the next day. The skills you learn will then require regular practice to gain confidence using them and fit them to your individual working style.

The Insights Discovery® session is hosted and run by a professional trainer, working in partnership with the BHBIA. Insights Discovery is a workshop based on Jungeon psychology using colours as shorthand to help participants understanding of different individual styles and approaches to work and life. The result of this online evaluator will be an Insights Discovery Personal Profile, which will show how your behavioural preferences may influence your personal and communication style in the workplace.

This Discovery Profile is personal to you and will contain information about your personal style, key strengths and weaknesses, influencing and tips on effective communication, which can be a useful tool in your own development plans. Who should attend?

The skills covered are relevant to anyone involved in gathering and communicating insights to audiences over whom they have no managerial authority but need to influence and guide their decisions. It would suit those new into the industry to build a strong starting base, or those with more experience looking to enhance and develop their current insight communication and influencing skills.
