Meet the New Co-Chairs of the Ethics & Compliance Commitee

After their recent appointment as Co-Chairs of the BHBIA Ethics & Compliance Committee, Laura Baldock and Rich Hutchings share their backgrounds and aspirations for the committee. With complementary expertise in analytics, innovation, compliance and HEOR, they are well placed to guide the committee’s ongoing work to support members and strengthen best practice across our industry.




Laura Baldock

Laura is Compliance Director within Ipsos UK’s Healthcare Service Line, drawing on more than two decades of experience in healthcare research and compliance. Her career spans the NHS and commercial research agencies, encompassing healthcare market research, observational research, clinical audits, and service evaluations.

Previously Quality and Compliance Lead at a global HEOR and market access consultancy, Laura brings extensive expertise in compliance, research ethics, pharmacovigilance and data privacy, underpinned by a deep passion for maintaining ethical standards in healthcare market research.

A member of the Ethics & Compliance Committee since October 2024, Laura is looking forward to helping BHBIA members navigate the evolving compliance landscape, while continuing to advance industry standards and champion the exceptional work of the committee.




Rich Hutchings

Rich is Senior Commercial Insights and Business Translator at Bayer UK, acting as a strategic partner to the company’s oncology business unit. With over 13 years’ experience spanning both agency and client-side roles, he brings a 360-degree understanding of the insights lifecycle and valuable perspectives on the shared compliance challenges across fieldwork, agency and pharma settings.

Rich’s expertise lies in quantitative and advanced analytics methodologies, forecasting and data analytics. During his time at Bayer, he has served as market research lead and primary compliance signatory, responsible for implementing best practice frameworks across the insights function. He also heads Bayer’s UK expert AI community, placing him at the forefront of how emerging technologies are applied responsibly within healthcare.

A member of the ECC since June 2023, Rich looks forward to continuing the committee’s valuable work, championing the ethical and compliant use of data, analytics and AI, supporting members through an era of rapid innovation.




Under the joint leadership of Laura and Rich, the Ethics & Compliance Committee will continue to deliver the BHBIA’s commitment to integrity and ethical best practice. Working alongside the wider committee, Laura and Rich will ensure the BHBIA remains a trusted source of guidance, helping members confidently navigate the complex and ever-changing ethics and compliance landscape.
