Thank you and Farewell to Board and Committee Members

April 30th, 2026

We bid farewell and extend our thanks to the following Board and Committee Members who have stepped down from their roles at BHBIA.

Paul O'Nions

Paul joined the Board in 2016, and supported the Training Committee, convening the Winter Seminar and running many training courses over the next couple of years such as Empowering the Analysts, 2 day Intro to Pharma Sales Research & Analytics Course and intern course. In 2020, Paul was elected by the Board as Chair and, with his extensive industry experience and expertise, has played an instrumental part in the running of BHBIA, its activities and strategy over the last 10 years.

Nick Merryfield

Nick rejoined the Board in 2024 for his second term as a Director, bringing a fresh perspective to the Board and its strategy. During his two years, he served as Treasurer, playing a key role in ensuring the organisation’s financial stability. He also supported the re-engineering of the Annual Conference and Winter Seminar into Insight Exchange, including convening the December 2025 event.

Bors Hulesch

Bors joined the Board in 2022, contributing a valuable new perspective. Over his four years, he has been part of the Professional Development Committee, convened two Virtual Events in Spring 2023 and September 2025, and played an integral role in establishing the Sustainability Committee, which he continues to chair.

Wilf Iliffe

Wilf took on the role of Chair of the BOBI Committee in July 2014, following several years of involvement with the Committee and the BOBI Challenge. During this time, he played a key role in shaping and developing the awards, including founding the Analyst / Analyst Team of the Year category, contributing to judging and the organisation of the BOBI Newcomer competition, and presenting the BOBI Awards Ceremony for many years.

Alison Buchanan

Alison has led the BOBI Best Newcomer Competition for 13 years, bringing together hundreds of organisers, guest judges, participants, and sponsors to make it a success, and is also an active member of the BOBI Committee and judging team. She was first involved as a judge in 2007, before becoming a sponsor and judge in 2008 and joining the Committee in 2010.

Clare Hopkins

Clare has served as Chair of the Fieldwork Committee since its transition from the Fieldwork Forum to a formal committee in July 2023. Clare has overseen numerous projects and webinars, including the Interview Response Rates initiative, guidance on Preventing Fraudulent Respondents in Primary Market Research, and the development of a Fieldwork Best Practice Resource Bank on the website.

Each individual has made a significant contribution to the BHBIA during their tenure, giving their time, insight, and energy to help shape the Association’s direction and support its members. Their commitment has been hugely valued, and they leave with our sincere thanks.
