David Physick - SEA Consultancy (Chair)

David is a Liverpudian by birth and now lives in a small village near to the coast of Suffolk.  His journey there is rooted in working for Barclays Bank for almost 30 years.  After embarking on a traditional career trajectory, in 1987 David was dispatched to Northampton to join a secret project.  This turned out to be the vehicle for launching the world’s first debit card.  This was the first of many ground-breaking initiatives in which David was involved that have now evolved to be utilitarian features of modern-day banking, e.g. telephone and on-line banking.

In 2003, David left Barclays and became an associate of the leadership development consultancy, Glowinkowski International, with which he had worked extensively during his leadership tenure at the bank.  Focusing on organisational climate, behaviour and personality, organisational design and process, the methodology helped turn-around a business unit of the bank that David led during the 1990s.

Through his time associated with GIL, David has worked with the richest variety of clients, ranging from blue-chip commercial firms to universities and schools.  David has helped research and devise behavioural competency frameworks for CEOs, CIOs and Customer Service Directors as well as many firms.  David was involved in GIL’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) research programme with University of Essex to develop a new instrument to measure and assess corporate values.

More recently, David has held an associateship with US firm, Chant Newall Development Group (CNDG LLC).  CNDG designs, develops and manages virtual learning environments for a range of corporates and universities.

David has been a long-standing judge for the WOW! Awards.  He is a member of Tomorrow’s Company, a progressive think-tank that emerged from The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in the 1990s.  David has an MBA and an MSc in Organisational Psychology.
