Workshop

BHBIA Influencing without Authority

Hamilton House, Mabledon Place, London WC1H 9BD
Thursday 08 February 2024, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Sometimes we can feel that if we could just understand what was going on under the surface for our stakeholders a little better, we’d be able to speak their language and deliver the answers we know they need to hear.
Learn how to build trust, increase rapport, and up your influencing power on this one-day workshop.

Purpose

This workshop will help you on your journey towards becoming a trusted business partner and to strengthen your relationships and the value that you bring to your stakeholders. The main objective of the day is to provide you with the skills and knowledge to understand how to influence different internal and external stakeholders in a range of situations, whilst enhancing your business impact skills and credibility.

A completed Insights Discovery® Evaluator is a prerequisite for attending this course as it gives learners a foundation of self-awareness and a common language that we will use during the day. Read more about Insights Discovery® and why this is a powerful self-awareness model below:

Insights Discovery® creates a common language that is simple to understand and remember. Your Profile will show your natural preferences using the four colour energies. Every person has all four colour energies within them which influence their motivations and behaviours. It is the combination of these energies which creates each unique personality. This means that we approach situations differently and by understanding your own and others’ preferences better, you can take simple, practical actions that improve your everyday relationships and how you engage and influence your business partners.

The Profile is a detailed report about each individual which is produced based on their responses to an evaluator. It helps people understand their style, their strengths, communication preferences, the value they bring to the team, and more, acting as a powerful tool for self-awareness and personal development.

See the 'Who should attend' section below for more details.

  • Have an improved understanding of the drivers of influence and your role as an influencer
  • Learn how to influence others, including internal and external stakeholders
  • Enhance your interpersonal skills and trustworthiness
  • Be able to apply your knowledge of the different Insights Discovery® colour energies to influence the outcomes of your interactions
  • Be able to apply your influencing skills in different situations with different types of stakeholders by utilising Cialdini’s six Principles of Persuasion and the G-LEAD model

Who should attend?

The skills covered are relevant to anyone involved in gathering and communicating insights to audiences over whom they have no managerial authority but need to influence and guide their decisions. It would suit those new into the industry to build a strong starting base, or those with more experience looking to enhance and develop their current communication and influencing skills.

If you haven't previously completed an Insights Discovery® Evaluator see details below:

Yes - this course is designed for anyone who has previously completed an Insights Discovery® Evaluator, either through the BHBIA or via company programmes or other institutions. Attendees of past BHBIA Empowering the Analyst courses, and future Fast-track your Business Impact courses can use their profiles from the afternoon sessions.

If you have not previously completed this, a short virtual workshop is available on the 25th January 2024: BHBIA Insights Discovery® Evaluator Workshop.
