Entries for the BOBI Analyst Team of the Year 2024 have now closed. Confirmed entrants will take part in the competition on 20th March.
Awarded to the team of analysts who best showcase their skills in turning complex datasets into an interactive, engaging report that tells the story within the data

The 2024 Analyst Team of the Year competition is a virtual, ONE-DAY event, taking place on 20th March.

The one-day event format means that you only need to commit a single day to developing your submission.

The competition allows your team to apply their skills to a realistic case-study based challenge, turning complex datasets into an interactive, engaging report. Using data sets drawn from published NHS and/or other sources, your task will be to load the data in your favourite reporting tool (Excel, Power BI, Qlik, Tableau etc.) and create a dashboard report in response to the requirements of the brief.

The data sets you will be working with won't require no cleaning or matching, allowing you to focus on delivering a great report that both tells the story and engages the viewer in ways that make them want to explore for themselves.

How does the competition work?
  • The data will be available to download from 7.30 am on the morning of the competition, so you will have a little time to take a look at it before joining a virtual briefing.
  • A briefing will be held at 9.30 am on the morning of the competition. During the briefing, all entrants will be given more information about the output we want you to deliver. We'll also provide guidance on the judging criteria.
  • You can use any tool you want to deliver the report but it must be accessible to the judges without the need to buy a licence.
  • You must upload your submission by 9 am the next day, along with an online form that details your team lineup.
  • Judging will take place later in March. The judging panel will include analytics experts with client and agency experience. All entries will be judged anonymously and the entries will remain completely confidential. They will not be seen or shared outside the judging panel or BHBIA Team unless you give your explicit consent for this.
Why take part?
  • A chance to showcase your team's analytical skills.
  • A level playing field: everyone works on the same task.
  • No concerns about commercial sensitivity/client permissions. It’s a hypothetical brief and submissions are judged anonymously;
  • As well as the chance of winning, taking part provides an opportunity for learning and development and to foster good teamwork.

How to enter

All you need to do now is click the ENTER NOW button above to register your intention to participate.

We will contact you ahead of the competition day with all the details you'll need to take part.

  • Team members may be drawn from one company or multiple companies.
  • At this stage, you do not need to tell us the team members' names, just the companies involved. When you send us your submission, we'll ask you to confirm the names of all those who have worked on it.
  • We recommend that a team consists of no more than six main entrants. If required, you can credit additional supporting team members in the small print.

The finalists will be publicised towards the end of April. Before the publicity goes out, we’ll let you know whether your entry has succeeded in reaching this stage. One of the finalists will be announced as the winner at the awards ceremony on 13th May
